🛒 A short list of simple ingredients and substitutions
You'll find a list of simple ingredients with amounts in the recipe card below. But before we get to the full recipe, here are a few notes about the ingredients.
strawberries: for the best flavour, use the freshest ripe strawberries you can find. While the freshness of ripe strawberries can't be beaten, one of the best things about this recipe is that you don't have to wait for your local strawberries to ripen. You can use frozen strawberries in the middle of winter if you'd like.
oil: I like to use extra virgin olive oil for its health benefits, but you can use your favourite salad oil or avocado oil.
acid: I use a combination of acids in this strawberry vinaigrette dressing. After testing it several times, I found a combination of equal parts of apple cider vinegar and lemon juice to be my favourite. White wine vinegar will also be good, but red wine vinegar will be too strong in this recipe. While I love dressings with balsamic vinegar, I wanted to keep this strawberry dressing light in colour and in flavour.
sweetener: Honey is my first choice, but you can also use maple syrup to keep this recipe vegan.
salt and pepper: Even though this recipe only calls for ¼ teaspoon of each, don't leave these out! Both salt and pepper enhance the natural sweetness and flavour of strawberries.
🔪 How to make strawberry vinaigrette

Elaine's Tips
Since strawberries are high on the Dirty Dozen list, it's best to choose organic strawberries. This is a list of fresh produce items that consumers should avoid based on pesticide residue levels.
🍽 Try this on with any salad recipe with strawberries!
