❓Readers' Questions
Hemp hearts, also known as hemp seeds, contain high levels of omega-3 and omega-6 essential fatty acids which may help to support cholesterol levels, your immune system, and may help regulate your metabolism. They're also a good source of iron, Vitamin E, manganese, magnesium, B-Vitamins and zinc. Yes, they're good for you!
👍🏼 Helpful Tip
Plan ahead! Slice and freeze overripe bananas to add to this smoothie! Peel spotty bananas, slice into rounds about ¼ to ½ inch thick and arrange in a single layer on a baking sheet.
Once they're frozen, transfer the slices to a freezer container or freezer bag, and use a few at a time to make your smoothies. A natural sweetener!
🔁 Possible Variations
Substitute your favorite plant-based milk for the almond milk, or use cocoa instead of cacao if you prefer. It will still taste like chocolate heaven.
Swap peanut butter or other nut butter for the almond butter. Try this Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Smoothie (made without bananas.)
Make it a mocha! Add ¼ cup of brewed coffee to the blender to give it a mocha flavor, like this Mocha Almond Smoothie Bowl recipe.
Like it thicker? Add a teaspoon or two of chia seeds.
