🛒 Ingredients
You'll find a complete list of ingredients with amounts in the recipe card below. But before we get to the full recipe, here are a few notes about the key ingredients.
- apple cider: This fall mocktail recipe uses non-alcoholic pure apple cider, sometimes known as "soft cider." See the description below about the difference between "hard" and "soft" apple cider.
- ginger beer: use your favourite variety. I use Fever-Tree ginger beer when I make this fall drink (no endorsement, not an affiliate link.) Ginger beer is a non-alcoholic, carbonated drink made with ginger, water and sugar, fermented with yeast and carbonated. It has a strong, somewhat spicy flavour. You'll find ginger beer in the beverage aisle in your grocery store. Crabbie's Original Alcoholic Ginger Beer is also available. It has an alcohol level of slightly less than 5%, but if you use it, this obviously won't be a mocktail.
- lime: a generous squeeze of fresh lime juice is an essential ingredient in this apple cider ginger beer mocktail! Don't leave it out.
- spices: pinches of both ground cinnamon and nutmeg add a tiny spicy surprise.
- garnish: thin slices of apple, a slice of lime and/or a cinnamon stick will make this mocktail super special.

👍🏼 Helpful Tips
To make a large batch of this fall mocktail recipe, combine equal parts of apple cider and ginger beer, then add 1 tablespoon of lime juice for every serving. For example, to make 4 drinks, add 2 cups each of apple cider and ginger beer and ¼ cup lime juice.
If you want to prepare the apple slices in advance, be sure to toss them in lemon juice to prevent them from turning brown.
❓Reader's Questions
Apple cider can be "hard" or "soft." Hard cider is a fermented, alcoholic drink, but soft cider, (also called fresh cider), is unfiltered and non-alcoholic.
It differs from apple juice in that it has not been filtered to remove coarse particles, so it appears a little cloudy. It is naturally sweet, but often has more of a tang than apple juice that has been filtered.
It's the perfect choice for this apple cider mocktail.
Both ginger beer and ginger ale are carbonated drinks, both are non-alcoholic and have ginger flavour. Ginger beer has been fermented with yeast, while ginger ale is simply carbonated. The ginger flavour is stronger in ginger beer.
