❤️ Why you'll love this recipe
- Quick to cook: Made with the magic of air frying, these wings are cooked to perfection in a fraction of the time it takes to deep fry, making them a quick and easy option for your next game-day party or weeknight dinner. As easy as these Old Bay Chicken Wings!
- Next level wings! And the secret ingredient that takes these wings to the next level? Sweet and spicy hot honey sauce that adds a mouthwatering kick to every bite.
- No added oil. There is no need to add oil to these wings to get them crispy. An air fryer uses hot air to circulate around the chicken and does all the crisping work for you.
- Incredibly crispy. Coating the wings in a light layer of baking powder gives them incredible crispiness, just like these Honey Garlic Chicken Wings. It's hard to believe they haven't been deep-fried!
- Clean-up is a breeze. Cooking party wings in an air fryer is so easy to clean up! A short soak with a little detergent and a quick wipe and you'll be ready for next time.

- chicken wings: Buy wings that have been split into wingettes and drumettes with the tips removed, if you can.
- poultry seasoning mix: This is a versatile seasoning mix that I use for many chicken recipes. It's a simple combination of sea salt or Kosher salt, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder. Absolutely delicious!
- baking powder: a "secret" ingredient for the crispiest chicken wings! Use gluten-free baking powder to keep this recipe gluten-free.

🔪 How to make the best hot honey wings
Quick and easy to make!
- Start by making hot honey and set it aside. You can make this a long time in advance, as it will last for up to 6 months.
- Combine the poultry seasoning ingredients. This spice mix can also be made ahead of time.
- Pat the wings dry, then transfer them to a large bowl.
- Toss the wings with poultry seasoning, then with baking powder, then arrange in a single layer in your air fryer basket. You will probably have to cook the wings in batches.
- Air fry for 7 - 10 minutes, then use tongs to flip the wings over. Continue cooking for a few more minutes or until the thickest part of the chicken registers 165°F. on an instant-read thermometer. Air frying times will depend on the type of air fryer you have. Some cook much more quickly than others.
- When fully cooked, toss with hot honey to coat the wings. Serve hot.
For Oven-Baked Hot Honey Wings: follow the instructions above, arranging the wings in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake at 400°F. for 20 minutes, use tongs to flip the wings over, and continue baking for 15 to 20 minutes or until the internal temperature of the thickest parts of the wings have reached 165°F. Remove to a bowl, toss with hot honey and serve hot.
👍🏼 Helpful Tips
- Don't overcrowd the air fryer basket: An air fryer is like a mini convection oven. You need the air to circulate around the wings for them to cook properly.
- Sort the pieces: It's best to sort the wings into drumettes and wingettes and cook them separately so they cook evenly.
- Be "Food Safe" and use a meat thermometer: Check the temperature of the thickest part of the wings before serving. It should register 165°F. on an instant-read meat thermometer.
❓Reader's Questions

Hot Honey Old Bay Wings: Toss the wings with Old Bay seasoning instead of homemade poultry seasoning, then drizzle with hot honey.
🍽 What to serve with hot honey wings
Whenever I serve hot wings, I like to serve something cool and refreshing to balance out the heat of the wings.
- Celery sticks go well with Honey Garlic Chicken Wings or Old Bay Chicken Wings. Their crisp crunch is a classic accompaniment to any hot wings, including these hot honey wings.
- Carrot sticks: Similar to celery, carrot sticks provide a refreshing crunch to balance out the spiciness of hot wings. Plus, they add a pop of color to your plate.
- Sweet potato fries: If you're looking for something more substantial to serve with hot wings fries are a popular choice. They're crispy and salty, and their mild flavour provides a nice contrast to the bold flavors of the wings.
- Beer: A cold beer is a classic beverage choice to pair with hot wings. The bitterness of the beer can help cut through the spiciness of the wings and provide a refreshing palate cleanser. If you're not a fan of beer, you might like one of these 9 fruity mocktails instead!
⏰ Storage Instructions
Refrigerate leftover wings promptly. They should not be left at room temperature for more than two hours. Store them in a covered container in the fridge and they'll keep for 3 to 4 days.
To reheat chicken wings, place them in the air fryer basket that you've sprayed with oil, set the temperature to 350°F. and check after 4 to 5 minutes to make sure they're heated through. Since the wings have been coated with hot honey, they will be sticky and may scorch. You may wish to line your air fryer basket with parchment paper.
Freeze cooked chicken wings in a single layer, then once frozen, transfer to a resealable freezer bag or an airtight container. When you're ready to serve them, thaw overnight in the fridge, then reheat in your air fryer at 350°F. for about 4 to 5 minutes.
